The Eildon Weekend away was a fantastic weekend of boating, swimming, water sports and social get togethers at Lake Eildon. The weather was amazing with blue skies and daytime temperatures in the low to mid 30’s with lovely warm evenings.
BMYS members and guests were hosted by the Eildon Boat Club (EBC). The weekend kicked off with dinner on Friday night at the EBC, the food was amazing. The club looks out over the main marina with indoor and outdoor balcony dining. We were warmly welcomed by Rob Keogh the Commodore and Godfrey the General Manager. EBC provided moorings conveniently located near the boat ramps for BMYS boats to use over the weekend.
Saturday morning was free time to boat, fish, explore, or just sleep in with a rendezvous on water at Michael Shacklock’s houseboat and Macca’s houseboat from 12.30pm for drinks & light lunch. After lunch the water was great for a swim and to cool off. Some members even caught carp from the back of the boats – the cod and trout were a bit elusive!.
Attendees gathered back at the Eildon Lake Motel on Saturday evening to relax and enjoy a scrumptious BBQ. Some great stories were told of the day’s adventures. Members and guests stayed at the two motels in the town and at the pondage caravan park.
Sunday was again free time for boating, swimming and exploring.
On behalf of the Boating Committee we want to thank the Social Committee and our Commodore (plus his better half!!) and a particular Past Commodore and just as importantly all the members attending for a superb weekend. Thanks to Mick Shacklock for choosing the weekend voted the best weather ever. Plus hosting us for lunch and swims on Saturday. Thanks to all helpers on the Saturday BBQ. Many hands make light work. It was great to meet new members & old. Everyone had a great time.
Attending the weekend were 35 members and guests, Michael Shacklock's and Macca's houseboats and eight BMYS boats making the trip to Eildon.
