Mother Nature turned on a cracker of a day for the annual BMYS Australia Day Cruise and Lunch
Seventeen boats set off from Patterson River, many proudly flying Australian flags and putting on a great spectacle for beachgoers along the way.
Cruisers enjoyed a morning tea stop on the river, grazing on classic Aussie treats including Iced VoVos, Tim Tams and Wagon Wheels. Entertainment at the moorings came courtesy of our Boating Director, who provided some unscheduled comedy while his boat was carefully corralled back to the doc. A knot-tying refresher may be on the cards. 😄
On the return journey, there was a quick stop at Mr Whippy’s boat (Tony Huxham) for a well-earned Peter’s Drumstick, which went down a treat.
Back at the club, around 130 members and guests tucked into a sumptuous Australia Day BBQ, expertly prepared by our Social and Boating Committee volunteers. The afternoon rolled on in true Aussie style, relaxing to Alex Kyle belting out classic tunes.
Great weather, great food, great music and even better company, a fantastic day enjoyed by all. 🇦🇺🍻
