Port Welshpool Fishing Competition

Port Welshpool is a great fishing location that offers options for both the smaller and larger vessels to access a wide variety of fish species.

On offer is great squid, whiting and flathead fishing just a few hundred metres from the ramp to snapper and gummy shark around the many channels and up around the entrance. There are also kingfish inside the Port this time of year for those willing to target them.

For the boats equipped to get offshore, there is great gummy and snapper fishing and also kingfish out around the islands

Comp Details:

• Friday fishing starts at dawn with a weigh-in at 5.00 pm at the Port Welshpool ramp.

• Friday night is a casual get-together for drinks /meals at the iconic Rusty Gurnard Hotel - for those that want to join.

• Saturday fishing starts at dawn with a weigh-in at 5 pm at the Port Welshpool ramp.

• The competition concludes at 5.00 pm on Saturday and a presentation of prizes will take place Saturday evening at the BBQ

• Fishing on Sunday is optional for those who wish to go

The Saturday night BBQ is a great chance to exchange stories and have a few quiet drinks. Please note for the BBQ that it is BYO food and drinks.
