Port Welshpool Fishing Competition

Port Welshpool is a great fishing location that offers options for both the smaller and larger vessels to access a wide variety of fish species.

On offer is great squid, whiting and flathead fishing just a few hundred metres from the ramp to snapper and gummy shark around the many channels and up around the entrance. There are also kingfish inside the Port this time of year for those willing to target them.

For the boats equipped to get offshore there is great gummy and snap-per fishing and also kingfish out around the islands

Comp Details:

·         Saturday fishing starts at dawn

·         Weigh in Saturday 5pm at the ramp (Port Welshpool)

·         Final weigh in Sunday 12pm at ramp (Port Welshpool)

Saturday night there is a BBQ with the Knox club members which is a great chance to exchange stories and have a few quiet drinks

Accommodation is available at Long Jetty Caravan Park 03 5688 1233. There are also a number of short-term rentals available.

There will be an information night at BMYS for those attending held be-fore hand to discuss the options and general locations and tactics for the area. Date for the information night to be announced soon.
