Our Community

BMYS is a family oriented not-for-profit boating and social Club which promotes the sports of responsible boating and sustainable fishing. The Club formed in 1959 has around 600 members and offers excellent boating and social facilities which lend themselves well for community-oriented events and functions.

This year the BMYS celebrates its 60th anniversary. The club has big plans for a major celebration for the entire community to commemorate this milestone in October 2019.  Please refer to our website for further updates and details.

We are committed to our local community and actively participate in community life through sponsored events, community projects and boating safety education programs.

The BMYS continues to be active in scheduling cause-related events. These include:

The Cancer Councils Pink Ribbon Day on racing’s Oaks Day (Ladies Day). Pink Ribbon events such as this help raise vital funds to support cancer research.

Hosting Able Australia for their Able Day on the Bay event for deaf-blind people and their carers. This is a fun day with rides on club boats and on vintage cars.

Wish for a Fish’ for the underprivileged youths of Australia.

And other events such as

  • ‘Parma for a Farmer’
  • Beyond Blue (walk from BMYS to Mordialloc pier & return).
Funds raised at these events are directed to these great causes and our members volunteer their time to ensure all events at the BMYS are safe and well organised.

Importantly the success of these events has been underpinned by the generous support from community-based businesses who provide various prizes for fund-raising raffles which form an integral part of revenue raised at these events.

Our 2019 Causes program will be advertised on our website. Please check the website to see how you can participate to continue building the event.

To further evolve our role in the local community BMYS would like to extend an open and warm invitation to the local residents to visit the Club grounds, walk the foreshore, bring your family and friends to fish from the jetty and visit the Clubhouse. The BMYS Club grounds are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and access is available at the gate at the bottom of the driveway. The BMYS Clubhouse is open on Thursday night, Friday Night, and Sunday afternoons.

We would also extend an open initiation to attend Social events hosted at the Clubrooms. These events include Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, AFL Grand Final, Melbourne Cup and a Christmas Dinner Party. All social activities which typically target families are listed in the Social Events page of the BMYS website.

The Clubhouse can also host special events, including weddings, anniversaries, birthdays etc. and can accommodate up to 150 guests. Further details can be located on the Functions page of our website.

The Beaumaris Motor Yacht Squadron is committed to welcoming all members of the local community to relax, enjoy the great hospitality on offer in a warm and friendly environment.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
