Expectations of great fishing were dashed when bad weather forced cancellation of the event for Saturday 24th November. The weather improved somewhat on Sunday, but competitors still faced choppy, confused and unpleasant seas.

Many thanks to our kindred clubs for attending – Wangaratta and District Sports Fishing Club, Knox Club Fishing Club, Orbost Fishing Club, Albury Wodonga Sportsfishing Club and Brighton Central Angling Club.

The BMYS Gala Fishing Competition is very proud to have the following sponsors – Southern Sportfishing, Shimano, Illusion Gas Log Fires, Blue Nautilus Marine, AJ Thomas Campervans, Club Marine, JV Marine, GME, J.M Gillies and Transport Safety Victoria.

We ask ALL competitors to support our sponsors when and where they can as without them, we would not have such a fantastic event.

Lots of great work completed by the Brendan Hocking (Fishing Director) and his Fishing Committee in organizing and successfully conducting the event.

Thanks also to Anthony Heyde, Club Manager and Club staff for their great support across a very busy and enjoyable weekend.

Some pics here of boats returning to the Club on Sunday morning and of some the prize winners.

Full prize details for the event will appear in the next edition of On Deck.
